Whistleblower Protection Victory (Stefanski v. Saginaw County 9-1-1 Communications Center Authority)
- The Michigan Supreme Court ruled that violations of common law fall under the scope of “law” in the Whistleblowers’ Protection Act.
- The case involved a 911 dispatcher who reported that a supervisor’s misconduct delayed emergency response to a shooting victim.
Harassment & Retaliation Lawsuits (2025)
In January 2025, the firm filed lawsuits on behalf of two women against the Bridgeport-Spaulding School District.
- The complaints allege harassment, retaliation, and negligence against a Compass Group foodservice director.
- ABC12 reported that attorney Kevin Kelly detailed accusations of unwanted touching and indecent exposure.
Unlawful Arrest Lawsuit (2023–2025):
The firm represented a Saginaw resident in a federal lawsuit alleging unlawful arrest.
- A federal judge ruled that Saginaw police officers violated constitutional rights by failing to train properly on probable cause.
- The case concluded in August 2025 with a $500,000 settlement from the City of Saginaw.
Michigan State Police Promotion Lawsuit:
The Mastromarco Firm filed a lawsuit on behalf of five Michigan State Police members, alleging the promotional process was rigged. The case was covered by the Detroit Free Press.
